Entrances

The entrance to a building is one of its most important features. Think of a fabulous hotel, club, or restaurant and chances are one of its hallmarks is its entry. The same concept applies to your home as well. If you have the opportunity to build your home from the ground up, then be sure to not skimp on the front entrance. This is the rule of first impressions! It won't matter how dramatic the interior details are, and they are important, but think of the entrance as the opportunity to welcome visitors with your best. If you move to a home, be sure to pay attention to this often overlooked area. Most of us do not use our front entrance, but do yourself a favor and use it every now and then. It changes the perception of how you view your own home!

The entry is not just the door, although this is usually its main feature. If it is plain you can always paint it a great color that works with the rest of the home to make it pop. The approach to the entry is the path that leads to your home and take a look to see what impression this gives. Keeping this clear or using potted containers of plants and flowers can really make a difference in building the drama to entice your guests to see what you've done with the interior.

While every detail of a home is important, I truly love entrances - some are gated and the gate itself is unique. Some doors are fabulous. The more you start to notice entrances, the more aware you become of their significance.
